About Us

Hi there. My name is Chris, and I am the founder of Rooted Solutions.

This journey began in 1991 when I left the Marine Corps. I got a job mowing grass while I figured out what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Little did I know; that was the beginning of what is currently 32 years in the Green Industry.

That first year, all I did was run a line trimmer (weedeater) on apartment complexes. It was hot, dusty, sweaty work.

And I loved it.

But - I didn't want to make a career out of that position, so I began working my way up. Crew member, crew leader, field supervisor...operations manager, branch manager, area manager...regional manager, general manager...along the way, I gained a LOT of knowledge and developed some great relationships. I've touched every department along the way, from sales and estimating to operations to customer service and account management to job costing and profit tracking. I started in commercial maintenance, then moved into site development, drainage, and stormwater mitigation...then worked in shoreline restoration and native land reclamation...then finally moved to design/build, irrigation, lighting, etc. I've seen things...

I became something of a student in efficiency. I studied Japanese principles of productivity and continuous improvement. I learned about people, which made me a better leader. I built highly-effective teams. I became fluent in Spanish. I built great relationships with both internal AND external clients by simply operating with honesty, integrity, and a commitment to quality.

I also learned a lot about the psychology of our industry and the folks who work in it - myself included. We run our businesses like our brains are wired, which leads to an environment that is often more chaotic than it needs to be. This industry doesn't have to be that way. But you have to have the right processes in place.

I have left traditional roles behind in favor of using my knowledge to serve others. It is my hope that by pouring into others, I can offer them a level of prosperity and peace that allows them the ability to pour into those around them - whether that's their teams, families, communities, churches, or a combination of all of those.

This business will chew you up and spit you out - if you let it. And making the changes to stop the status quo can be painful at times. But it's like Jocko Willink says: there is no growth in the comfort zone.

I'd be honored to be a part of your journey. Drop a line, and take that first step.

I feel like every website has a section like this. To make it sound fancier, I will use the third person point of view for the section below.

Chris Cooper

Chris lives in central Indiana, where there is a lot of corn, a mediocre football team, and a couple of big auto races. He's married to Tammy, and they have 1 remaining child at home, along with 3 ridiculous cats (Belle is in the photo above; not pictured are Ed and Cindy Clawford) and a dog that's about as smart as a box of hammers. He and Tammy have SEVEN other kids between them, and 4 grandchildren.
